Mr Wong Kim Choong was appointed as Director and Chief Executive Officer of United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd (“UOB Malaysia”) on 1 October 2012. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto, Canada. Mr Wong has 32 years of banking experience. He started his career with United Overseas Bank Limited (“UOB Limited”) in 1983, where he served for over 14 years. During the 14 years with UOB Limited, Mr Wong held various management and senior positions in Consumer Banking, Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking. He was transferred to UOB Malaysia in 1997 where he was appointed as Head of Corporate and Commercial Banking and subsequently as Deputy Chief Executive Officer in 2003. In 2004, he was appointed as Director and Country Chief Executive Officer of United Overseas Bank (Thai) Public Company, a position he held until his appointment as Director and Chief Executive Officer of UOB Malaysia in October 2012.
Mr Thio Boon Kiat is the chief executive officer of UOBAM. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (First Class Honours) degree from the National University of Singapore. In 2004, he attended the Investment Management Program at Harvard Business School. In 2006, he also attended the Mastering Alternative Investments programme by Insead University. Mr Thio has over 20 years of investment management experience. He joined UOBAM in 1994 from the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), as a portfolio manager managing Singapore, and subsequently Asia Pacific and global equity portfolios. Over the years, he also headed the International Equities and Global Technology teams. In 2004, Mr Thio was appointed as Chief Investment Officer of UOBAM, a position he held until 2011 when he was promoted to his current appointment of chief executive officer.
Ms Lim Suet Ling is the chief executive officer and executive director of UOBAM(M). She graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) from the National University of Singapore in 1989 and is also a chartered financial analyst. She has more than 20 years of experience in the industry and has particular expertise in Malaysian and Asia ex-Japan equities. Her mandates have been wide ranging with varying investment styles and focus. She has held senior positions including the Malaysia equity team head of UOB Asset Management Ltd and has been portfolio manager of several funds in both Malaysia and Singapore. She was promoted to executive director and chief executive officer of UOBAM(M) in 2005 to oversee the growth of the company. Ms Lim holds a capital markets and services representative's licence for the regulated activity of fund management.
Mr. Seow Lun Hoo is one of the directors and major shareholder of Newfields Investments Sdn Bhd and Newfields Holdings Sdn Bhd. He was previously the president and chief executive officer of Hong Leong Credit Bhd (now known as Hong Leong Financial Group Berhad), the financial services and property arm of the Hong Leong Group Malaysia. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Hong Leong Credit Bhd’s financial services business, both in Malaysia and Hong Kong. He retired from Hong Leong Credit Bhd in 1998 after 28 years of service. When he came out of retirement in 2001, he founded the Newfields group and was appointed as chief executive officer of Newfields Advisors Sdn Bhd since 2004. He is a capital market and services representative’s licence holder for regulated activity of advising on corporate finance. Mr. Seow obtained an associate ship and qualification from the Institute of Chartered Insurance, United Kingdom in 1970 and in 2008 became a Chartered Insurer.
Mr Seow Voon Ping has been with the Newfields Group since its inception in 2004. He is one of the Directors of Newfields Investments Sdn Bhd and Newfields Land Sdn Bhd (“Newfields Land”). His current areas of focus are managing business development of Newfields Land, and direct investments on behalf of the Newfields Group. Since 2005, he has spearheaded the growth of Newfields Land to become a prominent developer of commercial and residential real estate in and around Kuala Lumpur. Mr Seow Voon Ping holds a Bachelor of Science (Economics) from the London School of Economics, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business
Mr Ronnie Lim is the Managing Director and Country Head of Personal Financial Services (PFS), United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd (“UOB Malaysia”). Mr Lim has more than 30 years of experience within the consumer banking spectrum – from growing retail lending portfolio to developing high performing products and service innovations across all pillars in the local and international financial services sectors. Mr Lim began his banking career with Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia (SCB) and during his 23 years tenure with SCB, he was involved in many first-in-Malaysia banking excellence including the mortgage and deposit flexi hybrid (MortgageOne), which was later exported to Singapore, India and Hong Kong. He was also involved in rolling out the first DotCom business model in 2001 for the SCB Group, the practice of agency-based sale force (Price Solutions) and started the Islamic Banking business in Standard Chartered Saadiq in Malaysia. His last position held was the Regional Head of Wealth Management for Malaysia/Singapore, Standard Chartered Bank Singapore. Mr Lim then joined Alliance Bank Berhad as the Executive Vice President and Head of Group Consumer Banking in January 2011 where he had transformed and significantly grew the consumer banking business during his 4 years tenure. Mr Lim joined UOBM in October 2015 and other than overseeing the execution of banking products tailored to wealth management and the transactional need of consumers, Mr Lim is passionate in his efforts to shed light on the importance of financial literacy through various initiatives. Mr Lim holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the National University of Malaysia and is a Certified Financial Planner. He is an alumnus of the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, Harvard Business School, Harvard University and Said Business School, Oxford University. Mr Lim is also a FIDE certified Corporate Director.
Puan Zalinah has more than 30 years of relevant experience in the Capital Market. She was the Head of the Domestic Equity Department at the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) before she retired in April 2021. She was the CEO of ASM Asset Management Sdn. Bhd. before joining EPF in September 2005. She has experience managing unit trusts, private mandates, asset allocations, risk management, ESG, corporate exercises, and research. In addition, she has played a key role in developing and setting up the EPF’s Global Listed Equity Investment. Puan Zalinah holds a Master in Business Administration in International Business and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from New Hampshire College, USA. She also has a Diploma in Accountancy from the Mara Institute of Technology. She is currently serving as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Perak Transit Berhad, Skyworld Berhad, and some unlisted companies.
Dato’ Syed Naqiz has been practising law for more than 19 years and has acquired in-depth knowledge not only on legal intricacies but has also gained a solid knowledge-base on various industries ranging from finance, power, construction, automotive, defence, IT, telecommunications, hospitality, retail, manufacturing, FMCG and shipping/transport. He has represented and acted against some of the largest multinational companies, public listed companies, governmental and regulatory bodies as well as government linked companies. Dato’ Syed Naqiz is also a senior partner of Naqiz & Partners. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 1997 from Australian National University in Australia.
